Pinch climbing and bouldering coach in Melbourne at an indoor climbing wall

Head Coach

Gil Leviten

I started Pinch Climbing as a way to make professional coaching accessible to climbers and to share the psyche of training. It’s not always easy to know what to do or how to do it and having someone supporting the journey can make all the difference.

With over eight years of coaching experience, I specialise in helping climbers progress through structured, evidence-based training. My approach blends finger-strength development, movement refinement, and mental preparation to build complete, resilient athletes.

I began my coaching career at Catalyst Climbing in the UK, where I worked closely with Louis Parkinson to develop youth climbers and adult climbers around London. Since relocating to Melbourne, I’ve continued coaching, guiding climbers of all levels toward consistent improvement both on the wall and off of it.

Whether you’re breaking into new grades, recovering from a plateau, or building a long-term training foundation, I focus on practical systems that deliver measurable results.

Don't wait for tomorrow, start today.

Zachary Mason

I started coaching in diving seven years ago, then moved into climbing two years ago through the Urban Climb youth program. Since then I’ve coached youth athletes across a range of ages and abilities, and more recently led the Adult Fundamentals course at Urban Climb Collingwood. I’m currently studying Sport Science at Swinburne and bringing that learning into my coaching.

I’ve always loved training and I’m excited to bring that same psyche to Pinch Climbing. My focus is helping you understand what to train, how to train it, and how to deal with the mental and physical side of improving in climbing.
